One of our senior litigators, Isaac H. Peres, recently obtained a judgment for fraud and misrepresentation following a six-day jury trial in Middlesex Superior Court. Attorney Peres represented Linda Chiang, a businesswoman from Tapei, Taiwan in the case of Linda Chiang, et al. v. Eugene Chen, Middlesex Superior Court, C.A. No. 07-2832. The jury and the Court awarded Ms. Chiang a total of $46,319.00. Ms. Chiang alleged and proved that the Defendant, a local businessman, had defrauded her and the other Plaintiffs in the context of several contracts involving a Nigerian company and several Asian companies for the sale of commodities. With the help of Attorney Peres, one of the other Plaintiffs in the case was awarded double damages under G.L. c. 93A, S 11, and obtained a judgment totaling amount of $245,470.00.
